UAB's Isaiah Jones plans to transfer out of basketball program

UAB has granted guard Isaiah Jones his release and he is expected to transfer out of the program at the end of the school year.

Jones played in 23 of the Blazers 33 games this season, with averages 2.8 points and 1.2 rebounds a game.{}The sophomore{}will most likely be forced to sit out next season if he transfers to a Division I school because transfers rules.{}Jones{}could play right away at a junior college or lower level school.

Jones signed with UAB and coach Mike Davis in 2010. He sat out his freshman year with academic issues.

Jones' transfer gives UAB an extra scholarship to{}offer,{}either a high school player or college transfer.
