UAB hopes to have C.J. Washington in the lineup when it opens the Conference USA Tournament against Charlotte.
Washington returned to practice on Monday with a wrap around his left shoulder. He suffered the injury March 2 against Louisiana Tech and sat out last week's loss to Middle Tennessee.
"He practiced some today," UAB head coach Jerod Haase said. "It's something we'll just see how he develops over the next two days. We're hopeful that he's able to play. I think he still needs to continue to get better to be at 100 percent. I don't want to put him out there if it's not going to be efficient."
Washington is second on the team with 13 points and 6.9 rebounds. If the 6-foot-8 power forward can't play then small forward Rod Rucker would likely move to Washington's position.
"We would like to know how C.J. is doing and how he's feeling on gameday," Haase said. "At the same time, I think we're prepared if he's not playing a lot or not playing at all."
UAB is the eighth seed in the C-USA Tournament and plays ninth seed Charlotte Wednesday night at 9:30 in El Paso, Texas.
