Undefeated Samford ready for Western Carolina

The Samford football team went through its final full practice for Western Carolina with a one-hour workout in shorts and helmets at Seibert Stadium.{}Samford enters the game with a record of 3-0 overall and 1-0 in the Southern Conference. The Bulldogs are coming off a 44-23 win at Gardner-Webb. Western Carolina is 1-2 overall and 0-1 in league games, and they are coming off a 49-20 setback at Wofford last weekend.{}Samford head coach Pat Sullivan said he likes the effort and attitude that his team has shown so far this season.{}"I've said all along that I like this football team and I like this coaching staff," Sullivan said. "The unity, with everybody pulling for each other, is there. They're striving to get better each week and I'm anxious to see them play on Saturday. They're hungry and they believe they have a chance to be good."{}Samford and Western Carolina are meeting for the 10th time, with Samford holding an 8-1 advantage in the series. The two teams met last season, with Samford coming away with a 52-24 win in Birmingham.
