Vanderbilt football dismisses players suspected of sex crimes

Vanderbilt football has cut ties with four players being investigated for sex crimes.

The players in question have not been identified.

The players are central figures in a sex crime investigation being conducted by Nashville Metro police. The incident allegedly occurred last week as a campus dormitory.

"The well-being of our students is of paramount concern to us, and we will not tolerate any actions that threaten student safety and security," Beth Fortune, Vanderbilt's vice chancellor for public affairs, said in a statement.

The police and the school have confirmed that the players were dismissed based on their alleged role in the crime.
