Vanderbilt WR Chris Boyd charged as accessory in rape case
Vanderbilt wide receiver Chris Boyd is charged with helping four teammates cover up a sexual assault crime on school campus.
The Tennessean newspaper was the first to report the story.
Boyd faces a felony count of being an accessory to the sex crime incident involving former Commodore players Brandon Vandenburg, Brandon Banks, JaBorian McKenzie and Corey Batey. They're charged with five counts of aggravated rape on an unconscious 21-year-old co-ed.
Boyd is accused of helping cover up the crime after the fact.
Boyd caught 50 passes for 774 yards and five touchdowns last season.
Vanderbilt announced that Boyd is suspended while the investigation continues. The player is expected to turn himself in to authorities, where his bond will be set at $25,000.
