Vestavia Hills hires assistant superintendent

The Vestavia Hills Board of Education has approved the hiring of Meredith Hanson as the district's new assistant superintendent. Hanson is currently Executive Director of Human Resources at Auburn City Schools. From 2006 to 2012 she served as assistant principal at Vestavia Hills Elementary.During that time, she assisted in oversight of the school's 680 students and the hiring of more than 80 school staff members. She holds an Educational Specialist degree from Samford University.Hanson will replace Sheila Phillips, who was named as the district's new superintendent last month. Phillips said. "Meredith's wealth of knowledge gained from her experience here and outside of our district, coupled with her confident personality, made her the ideal candidate for this position."
