Vestavia Hills postpones Fourth of July celebration
VESTAVIA HILLS - AL —
Vestavia Hills has decided to postpone Wednesday night's Fourth of July celebration until July 12 due to the threat of rain. But the Pops in the Park concert will be moved to Samford Unvisersity.
"With an 80% chance of rain and thunderstorms, we felt it was the safest choice for everyone. We look forward to next Fridays festivities. Rain OR shine it will take place on the 12th!," said a statement posted to the Vestavia Hills Chamber of Commerce Facebook page.
The I Love America Summer Concert series was scheduled to kick off Wednesday night at Wald Park. Events included free swimming, a performance by the Shades Mountain Baptist Church Orchestra and a showing of "Madagascar 3: Europe's Most Wanted." However, the Shades Mountain Baptist Church Orchestra moved their performance indoors The orchestra will perform tonight at the Brock Recital Hall at Samford University beginning at 7 p.m.
Those events are now moved to July 12.
There will be a second event on August 16 with music by Chevy 6 and a showing of "The Croods."
