More than 100 veterans and their spouses packed the Rocky Ridge Retirement home to witness the re-enactment of Iwo Jima.
A group of marines re-enacted the flag raising. A wall of honor was also a way to acknowledge the past and current veterans.
Many people at the event say it's always good to recognize the past veterans who laid their life on the line.
Debbie Arnwine, Coordinator for the Marine Squad says, "Freedom is not free. These veterans have paid a tremendous price even if they came back alive a veteran will tell you that they don't want to be remembered, they want you to remember the ones that died on the battlefield."
Staff members at the retirement home say this is a way to pay tribute to the veterans that live in the retirement home.
