Vulcan to get new trees for Arbor Day

A donation of trees to Vulcan Park and Museum means the park will have eight new trees for Arbor Day. Arbor Day is Friday, April 25, 2014. {}The trees are white oak, post oak, black oak, and southern red oak. According to park officials, seed was collected from venerable specimens in Birmingham parks and grown at Birmingham Botanical Gardens and are to be planted in time for Arbor Day."Vulcan Park and Museum is proud to be part of Birmingham Botanical Gardens preservation efforts to our local plants and forestry. {}We are very happy for this donation, and look forward to continuing to work with Birmingham Botanical Gardens,"says Cristina Almanza, director of marketing and PR.They will plant the trees at 10AM on Arbor Day.
