Wal-Mart, Amex team on new prepaid card

Next week, WalMart and American Express roll out a new way to bank without a bank.

It's a new prepaid money card called Bluebird.{} The program acts like a checking account, but without fees.{} There will be no minimum balance, annual fees, or overdraft charges.

Customers can deposit a check by taking a picture of it with a smart phone.{}{}Bluebird will offer the same fraud protections as other credit and debit cards.{} Analysts say Bluebird shows just how the financial service landscape is changing.

Bluebird will be available next week online and in more than 4,000 Walmart stores.
