      WALKER COUNTY, Ala. -- The Walker County Board of Education voted to close three of its schools Thursday despite some strong opposition from the community.

      The board, in two separate decisions, voted 4-1 to close Parrish High School and 5-0 to close both Sipsey and T.S. Boyd elementary schools.

      Students at Boyd and Sipsey are likely to begin attending Sumiton Elementary School while Parrish students will either attend Oakman or Cordova high schools.{}
