After an emergency-called meeting Friday morning, the Walker County Jail will get some much-needed repairs.
Commissioners heard from the jail administrator and Walker County Sheriff during a nearly two-hour meeting.
From sneaking in contraband to inmates escaping, the dangerous jail conditions were the reason why commissioners unanimously voted to hire a company to begin fixing the problems. County leaders approved up to $50,000 for an assessment and lock replacement.
One commissioner said the sheriff will have to ask for more money to replace the fences.
