Warrior woman accused of stealing over $200,000 from employer, Birmingham Internal Medicine Associates

HOOVER, Alabama -- Hoover police arrested a Warrior woman Tuesday on charges she stole over $200,000 from her employer in Birmingham.

Rebecca Ann Higginbotham, 52, is charges with seven counts of second-degree forgery, six counts of first-degree theft of property and one count of second-degree theft of property. She is being held in the Shelby County Jail on bonds totaling $300,000.

According to police, Higginbotham stole 135 checks from Birmingham Internal Medicine Associates in Hoover before committing forgery to make deposits into her personal bank accounts. The alleged theft occurred over the past seven years while she worked in the company's accounts receivable department.

An investigation remains ongoing.
