West Alabama jumps to No. 8 in Division II poll

West Alabama made a statement against Valdosta State, and the other football coaches got the message.

The Tigers (5-1) climbed six spots, to No. 8 in the Division II Coaches Poll Top 25 after knocking off top ranked Valdosta State last week.

The six spot jump was the largest leap in this week's poll.

Valdosta State fell 12 spots to No. 12.

West Alabama running back Kedrick Rhodes was named the Gulf South Conference Offensive Player of the Week after he collected 180 all purpose yards and three touchdowns in the win over VSU.

UWA plays at 24th-ranked Midwestern State (4-1) in Wichita Falls, Texas this Saturday
