Paul Konerko will begin a rehab assignment with the Birmingham Barons on Thursday against the Chattanooga Lookouts.
The White Sox slugger is recovering from a lower back strain that has kept him out since July 3.
The rehab stint is scheduled to last four games.
Konerko is a six-time All-Star and the only remaining player on Chicago roster that was a member of the 2005 World Series Championship team.
Konerko is hitting .249 with seven home runs, 25 runs scored and 30 RBIs this season.
