Wind, rain cause damage throughout the state
BIRMINGHAM - AL —
Damaging wind and rain swept through parts of the state. In Birmingham, it caused at least one tree to fall on a house. In other area, flash flooding led to a water rescue and wind caused part of a building to collapse.
Birmingham firefighters believe the weather was responsible for this tree falling onto a house. The tree left some holes in the roof of the house on Lance Lane in Birmingham's East Lake community.
Strong winds or even a tornado caused part of an Atmore strip mall to collapse Sunday morning. A team from the National Weather Service will head down to determine what led to the damage.No injuries were reported.
In Prattville, some campers had to be rescued around 10 a.m. at Pine Creek. Police say some people parked on a sand bar to camp before the rain. The overnight and morning rain flooded the creek. Five adults and seven children were stranded. They were rescued by boat.
