Winter weather travel issues trickle down to Birmingham

More than 2,000{}flights were{}canceled Tuesday, and thousands more were delayed as the eastern half of the United States plunged into an arctic deep freeze.

Three flights out of Birmingham Shuttlesworth International Airport{}to Philadelphia, Washington, D.C. and Baltimore are among the cancellations. Several other flights are delayed.

The federal government didn't even have workers in Washington come in for fear they couldn't get home.

Philadelphia is expecting 14 inches of snow, while New York City is bracing for at least a foot.{} All of this will be followed by bitter cold for several days.
