Woman Charged With Chemical Endangerment Of A Child

An Etowah County woman is facing charges of chemical endangerment of a child.

Authorities arrested 28-year-old Danley Davis yesterday. She is charged with one count of chemical endangerment of exposing a child to an environment in which controlled substances are ingested, produced or distributed. She is also charged with one count of first-degree manufacturing of a controlled substance.

Investigators say she admitted to using morphine, opiates and methamphetamine within the last 24 hours and she is nearly 16 weeks into a pregnancy.{} The sheriff says Davis is receiving proper medical attention to ensure she delivers a healthy baby. "The medical treatment she is getting is costly to taxpayers in the county but, no price is too high to make sure a healthy baby is given the opportunity to make a positive difference in our community."{} said Sheriff Todd Entrekin.

Davis is being detained at the Etowah County Detention Center on a $75,000 bond.
