Your Health: 2-1-13 Flu season update

Flu activity remains high across the United States; but, federal health experts say, infections may be leveling off in some parts of the country.

{} They say the flu season appeared to be easing somewhat in the South, Southeast, New England and the Midwest regions of the country. But, infections were rising in the West.

The latest Centers for Disease Control and Prevention report ending January 26, 2013 indicates 24 states and New York City were reporting high levels of flu activity.{} Those states include Arkansas, California, Hawaii, Louisiana, Michigan, {}Washington and West Virginia.

Thirteen states and the District of Columbia were reporting moderate flu activity. Alabama is among those states, as well as Connecticut, {}{}Maryland, Massachusetts, Mississippi, and North Carolina.

Four states were experiencing low activity including Kentucky and nine states were experiencing minimal activity including Florida, Georgia and Tennessee.
