Your Health: August 16, 2013 High fat foods and overeating

{}{}{} Scientists may now know why some people who battle to choose healthy food over fatty foods obsess over chips and cookies.{}{}{}{}{} Researchers at the Scripps Research Institute in Jupiter, Fla. say eating food -- especially food high in fat -- triggers the release of the feel-good brain chemical dopamine.{}{} They say the discovery shows how the gut talks to the brain's reward centers, and how high-fat diets can jam this communication, potentially leading to overeating and obesity.{}{}{}{}{}{} The study was conducted using in mice.{} {}{} {} It also found that high-fat diets actually led mice to turn up their noses at their normal, low-fat chow.{}{}{}{}{}{} The findings appear in the latest journal, Science.
