The House Judiciary Committee is issuing subpoenas to Gov. Robert Bentley and others in an ongoing impeachment investigation.

The House Judiciary Committee is issuing subpoenas to Gov. Robert Bentley and others in an ongoing impeachment investigation.

The subpoenas were delivered Thursday. They came after special counsel Jack Sharman said he wasn't getting voluntarily cooperation.

The committee is investigating if Bentley committee any impeachable offenses after being accused of having an affair with a staffer.

The committee wants tax returns, emails, pay records related to former staffer and her company and a large number of other records.

Bentley lawyer Ross Garber, who had not seen the subpoenas, said the governor turned over 1,500 pages of material Tuesday. He said the original request from Sharman was overly broad.

However, it is unclear if the committee can enforce the subpoenas. Sharman said Tuesday that would likely involve going to court.
