Bessemer man arrested for father's shooting death
BESSEMER, Ala. —
On August 5th around 8:45 p.m. Bessemer Police responded to reports of a shooting on the 300 block of 12th Street South.
Upon arrival, officers found Kevin Dewayne Yelling, 47, lying on the floor with gunshot wounds to his right shoulder and head. Police arrested Yelling's son, 22-year-old Charles Edward Yelling, who was inside the apartment when they arrived.
DHR also responded to the scene to make custody arrangements for the four children ages 3 and under who were also found at the apartment.
Charles Yelling will be transferred from the Bessemer City Jail to the Jefferson County Jail. Detectives have a warrant to arrest Yelling on murder charges with a $75,000 bond.
Detectives do not yet know a motive for this case.
