Birmingham Police identify man killed in weekend Ensley shooting
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. —
In a release, Police say officers responded originally on a person shot on the 1100 block of 15th Place SW Sunday afternoon.
Birmingham Police Lt. Sean Edwards said officers found a black male in his late 40s suffering from a gun shot wound to the body.
The shooting stemmed from allegations that the victim sexually assaulted his girlfriend's 13 year old daughter.
Apparently, the daughter told some family members and police believe they may have retaliated.
No one has been taken into custody at this time.
The victim, 47-year-old Erskine Hawkins, died at the scene.
