Center Point man charged with drug trafficking
JEFFERSON COUNTY, Ala. —
A 43-year-old Center Point man is charged with trafficking methamphetamine following a probe into a stolen vehicle.
Deputies found the stolen car at a home on the 2200 block of 2nd Terrace NW in Center Point on October 13. The suspect accused of driving the car was captured and told deputies he threw the keys in the yard of the house.
Three men were in the driveway when deputies returned to speak with the residence and search for the car keys. One of the men laid down a paper target next to a black bag in the driveway. Jefferson County deputies say the bag contained two guns, and a plastic bag containing meth.
The man, Eric Michael Simonson, told deputies he lived at the home and was then taken into custody. Authorities later searched the house and seized 36 grams of meth, two handguns, body armor and drug paraphernalia.
Simonson is being held at the Jefferson County Jail on $100,000 bond.
