Child found wandering streets in Ensley
Police say the child walked out of his home because the door was unlocked. The department of human resources has taken the child into custody. Police say his stepfather was asleep and his mother was at the store when he wandered away.
No charges have been filed in the case.
Birmingham Police Department is investigating after a 2-year-old child was found wandering the streets of Ensley.
A woman living near the intersection of 45th Street Ensley and Avenue M reports hearing a child crying. When she went outside she discovered the toddler. The woman took the child into her home and called police. When police arrived on the scene they took the child into their custody. It is unclear if they have made contact with the child's family.
