Chilton County Sheriff deputies involved in shooting
CHILTON COUNTY, Ala. —
In a post on Facebook, Chilton County Sheriff's say that around 5:00 p.m Sunday afternoon Chilton County Deputies were dispatched on a call to a person armed with a gun.
Once on scene, deputies encountered a male walking along the road with a gun.
The suspect then pointed the weapon at deputies. The post goes on to say that deputy's engaged the suspect and the suspect fired at them.
Deputies returned fire, striking the suspect.
All Deputies involved are safe.
The suspect has been treated and released from Baptist South in Montgomery and is now being booked in the Chilton County Jail on multiple charges.
Agents with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency's State Bureau of Investigation (SBI) are investigating the officer-involved shooting at the request of the Chilton County Sheriff’s Office and the 19th Judicial Circuit District Attorney’s Office.
Trooper Jesse Thornton said the incident occurred on private property and stemmed from a call for service.
