The University of Alabama is instituting a new clear bag policy for all Crimson Tide football games beginning this fall. The new policy limits the type of bags visitors and fans are allowed to bring into Bryant-Denny Stadium.

To be allowed entry into the stadium, bags or purses must be "clear plastic, vinyl, or PVC, and cannot exceed 12 inches x 6 inches x 12 inches in size."

According to a press release sent by University of Alabama Athletic Communications, the following bags are prohibited: "all purses, bags or containers larger than a small clutch purse (4½” x 6½”), coolers, briefcases, backpacks, fanny packs, cinch bags, luggage of any kind, computer bags, camera bags, binocular cases (binoculars may be worn around the neck), diaper bags, and seat cushions with pockets zippers or compartments."

The policy is being introduced in the interest of safety for all guests, players, and stadium personnel.

Exceptions will be made for items that are medically necessary for guests.

Style and size of bags, packages, or containers that will be allowed into the stadium:

  • Bags that are clear plastic, vinyl or PVC and do not exceed 12" x 6" x 12" (Official Alabama Crimson Tide logo plastic tote bags will be available at SupeStore, Shop.RollTide.com, Academy Sports and Outdoors, Hibbett Sports and Wal-Mart by August 15, 2016). In addition to these licensed Alabama retailers, you can also check with your local Alabama retail stores for officially licensed Alabama clear bag products and go to RollTide.com/allclear for updates.
  • One-gallon clear plastic freezer bags (Ziploc bags or similar).
  • Small “clutch" purses, no larger than 4 1/2" by 6 1/2", with or without a handle or strap can be taken into the stadium in addition to the approved clear plastic bags.
  • ALL TIDE PRIDE MEMBERS WILL RECEIVE ONE CLEAR BAG FOR EVERY TWO TIDE PRIDE SEASON TICKETS PURCHASED IN THEIR AMENITY MAILING IN AUGUST.
  • Fans will continue to be able to enjoy their tailgate activities on and around campus, and to do so with greater safety and the knowledge that their entry into the stadium will be smoother and faster.
  • Spectators also will be able to carry other items allowed into the stadium such as binoculars, cameras, and smartphones, but their cases will not be allowed.
  • Working personnel, including accredited news media, will continue to enter the stadium through designated gates where they will be subject to screening and bag inspections of the same manner as in the past.
