David Shores hired as Pell City head football coach

David Shores is the new head football coach at Pell City High School. Shores was previously the head coach at Spain Park High School.

He replaces Jay Brown at Pell City.

Shores was removed as head coach at Spain Park last fall after an alleged altercation with a player. He was on leave until he reached a settlement with the school district to have him transferred to become the assistant athletic director for the district.

Shores was 14-9 during his two years with the Spain Park Jaguars, and took them to the quarterfinals in 2009. He comes to a team that hasn't hade the playoffs in the last two seasons.

The coach was selected for the $90,000 a year job from 16 candidates who interviewed for the position.
