Finley Center family fun-fest kicks off new entertainment venue in Hoover
HOOVER, Ala. —
Today was the second full day at Hoover's new Finley Center. A grand opening of the 155- thousand square foot facility was held Friday. Thousands headed out early this morning to enjoy the family fun day.
"This is awesome!" said Suzay Reyes
"Oh, it's very exciting. I was surprised by how big it is," said Natasha Baroody.
"We opened the doors this morning at 10:00 and people have been constantly flooding in," said Monty Jones, Jr., Sports Facilities Management.
The new Hoover Metropolitan Complex is taking many across the community by surprise.
"I love it. Hoover is always growing and expanding and bringing new things in. It's just one more thing for me to be able to take my family to," said Reyes.
The complex was an $80 million dollar investment for the city. Mayor Frank Brocato said they started building this complex in May 2016.
"The great thing about it, we stayed under budget. When we came into office we looked at it and it had just been approved. So, we looked at it to see if there were ways we could improve things to save money and actually we were able to do that and really improve some things," said Mayor Brocato.
But there's more, the city is working on phase 2 of the complex for outdoor activities. This phase is set to open June 2018.
"Five baseball fields, five soccer, lacrosse, rugby, or football fields that could be utilized. Then also twelve hard court tennis courts. Along with a playground and splash pad," said Jones.
The complex starts summer camp, next week. Register your children today!
