Gadsden woman charged with chemical endangerment of a child
A 22-year-old Gadsden woman is facing a charge of chemical endangerment of a child.
Etowah County deputies received a call that a 3-year-old was wandering alone near the Coates Bend community. Authorities say they spent more than an hour trying to find the child's guardian.
Deputies eventually found the guardian's address and made entry into the home after seeing a woman lying in a chair inside. Inside the home, deputies say Darrica Ann Bruce admitted to smoking an illegal substance.
Bruce is being held on $12,000 bond at the Etowah County Detention Center. She must complete a drug treatment program as a condition of her bond.
