Homicide investigation underway in Bessemer
BESSEMER, Ala. —
Bessemer Police are investigating a deadly shooting Saturday morning in the 1100 block of Deadrick Street.
Officers were called to the scene just after 2:40 a.m. and arrived to find a person suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim, identified as 24-year-old Allen Jamichael Wilson, was pronounced dead on the scene. Detectives arrived to begin their investigation, an adult male was taken into custody for questioning, and a firearm was recovered from the scene.
Police say 29-year-old Joseph Lenair Burston is charged with murder in connection with the shooting. Burston is being held in the Bessemer City Jail on $90,000 bond and is awaiting transfer to the Jefferson County Jail.
Burston is also charged with possession of a sawed off shotgun.
