Hoover's Finley Center open for business, already landing major events
Hoover’s Finley Center is open for business.
The 155,000 square foot Finley Center can be used for events ranging from basketball tournaments to conferences and banquets. The city of Hoover expects it be a regional draw, recruiting new events to the Birmingham Metro.
The facility is able to be set up to include eleven regulation size basketball courts, 17 regulation size volleyball courts or trade shows with 300 booths.
One notable event already planning to move to the Finley Center is the junior league’s Market Noel.
Mayor Frank Brocato says the Finley Center will also help land events, not already in the region.
“We know that for sure,” said Brocato. “They're already contacting us. You know, one of the things it was built for was to attract these youth traveling teams. That is such a huge event and a draw from all over the country, but particularly the southeastern United States. So we look forward to that type of opportunity, but the facility was built to host conventions as well.”
Saturday, there will be a free family fest at the Finley Center with bungee jumping, inflatables and live entertainment.
