HVAC companies flooded with service calls during freeze warning
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. —
Freedom Heating and Cooling in Birmingham reports a substantial increase in service calls due to frigid temperatures.
The HVAC company said it averages 50 service calls on a normal day. Tuesday, Freedom received more than 90 service calls by noon.
Most callers are telling Freedom their heat system quit working completely or isn't producing as much heat.
If your heat shuts down, here are two things to keep in mind.
Check the air filter on your HVAC or furnace. Make sure the condensation lines aren't frozen which would cause the heat to shut off.
Low humidity can also cause the air in your home to feel cooler. Freedom said steam from a hot shower or a humidifier will make the air feel warmer.
