"It just wasn't meant to be;" David Carrington drops out of Alabama governor's race
VESTAVIA HILLS, Ala. —
Jefferson County Commissioner David Carrington has announced his withdrawal from the governor's race.
Carrington says he reached the decision "after prayerful consideration," saying, "it just wasn't meant to be."
Offering the remaining candidates his best wishes, Carrington says he plans to serve out the remainder of his term as Jefferson County Commissioner.
Carrington added he does not plan to seek another elected office, as "it was never about the position; it was always about improving the quality of government for our citizens."
Those who contributed to Carrington's campaign will be completely reimbursed.
