Museum of Flight commemorates women workers of World War II
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. —
People in Birmingham on Saturday paid tribute to women who helped keep America strong during wartime.
The Southern Museum of Flight invited women of all ages to dress as Rosie the Riveter to pay homage to local Rosie's.
Frances Carter, who founded the American Rosie the Riveter Association, was present at the rally and celebrating her 94th birthday.
Carter says she and other working women of World War II had no idea they were breaking down barriers for women in the work force today.
The 'Rosie Rally' had demonstrations on welding, pottery, screen printing, and more.
The event was part of the Southern Museum of Flights's 50th anniversary celebration.
