NRA gives Gov. Ivey 'A' rating, endorsement
MONTGOMERY, Ala. —
Alabama's current governor is A-grade material, according to the National Rifle Association (NRA), that is.
The gun rights advocacy group officially endorsed Kay Ivey for governor in a letter on Thursday. Ivey earned the NRA's backing for her "strong support for the Second Amendment and the hunting heritage of Alabamians."
The governor bolstered Alabama's preemption statue, opposed a ban on popular guns and magazines, and threw her support behind a pro-gun amendment to Alabama's constitution, which the NRA cites as evidence for its endorsement.
