Parents of Fayette's "tornado baby" move into new home
FAYETTE, Ala. —
The parents of Fayette's "tornado baby" are now living in a new home.
Sawyer Ann Grace Metz is credited with saving her mom and dad from injuries Thursday.
Blake and Samantha Metz were in a hospital delivery room, celebrating Sawyer Ann's early arrival, when their home was damaged by the tornado.
Members of Southside Baptist Church in Fayette furnished a home for the new family.
Blake Metz said he can't wait to share the story with little Sawyer Ann.
"We get to tell her how the home was destroyed and how she saved our lives and everything," Blake Metz told ABC 33/40 News during his first on-camera interview. "It's going to be a pretty cool story to tell her one day."
Southside Baptist covered the Metz's first month's rent and utilities.
The Fayette community has raised more than $5,000 to help the new parents get back on their feet.
