Parents upset over Jefferson County Schools' eDays
Many parents who have children enrolled in Jefferson County Schools are upset about a day children are required to learn outside the classroom.
The school system scheduled two eDays for the 2015-2016 school year. The first one is Friday, October 9th, and the second is on the calendar for March 18th.
Jefferson County school officials said eDays give students opportunities to participate in learning experiences away from school. Although both days have been on the calendar, many parents are upset they will have to stay home for their children to participate.
According to a school newsletter, eDays "allows learning to continue without utilizing makeup days, and provides an option for learning when we have extreme weather, flu epedimics, or other unforseen events."
