Firefighter arrested after showing two young girls obscene photographs
HOOVER, Ala. —
Hoover Police arrested a Birmingham firefighter who turned himself in Wednesday afternoon for showing two young girls and two women an obscene photograph in a Dollar General parking lot on November 14th.
According to the girls, both younger than 10, they were sitting in a car parked outside of the Tyler Road Dollar General when 41-year-old Kevin Dewayne Turpin approached the car window with a cellphone in hand.
Turpin allegedly showed the girls an obscene photograph and left the area.
Hoover Police say Turpin also approached two adult women with the photograph while inside the store.
Turpin has been booked into the Hoover City Jail on a $4,000 total bond for four counts of disseminating obscene material.
Turpin had been with the Birmingham Fire three years - and had no disciplinary problems - before handing in his resignation Thursday morning.
According to Fire Chief Charles Gordon, the department planned to investigate the matter but have decided not to proceed given Turpin's resignation.
Police are not discussing the nature of the obscene photograph at this time.
