Sinkhole opens on 10th Street and Bryant Avenue in Leeds; road to close
LEEDS, Ala. —
According to the Mayor of Leeds, a sinkhole opened up on 10th Street and Bryant Avenue after a woman drove across it, causing the road to collapse. Fortunately, no one was injured as a result of the sinkhole.
After a thorough investigation, it was determined that the pipe running underneath Bryant Avenue was extremely dated, and a contractor is set to start repairs on the morning of Thursday, September 13th.
The mayor says repairs should take about a week, and that portion of Bryant Avenue will be closed until repairs are finished.
