Substitute teacher charged with sexual relationship with student turns self in
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WBMA)
UPDATE: The Tuscaloosa Police Department has announced that Meta Lovely is not an employee of TCSS - she is an employee of Kelly Educational Staffing, who is contracted to provide substitute teachers. She does still fall under the umbrella of these charges.
A Duncanville woman turned herself in Wednesday at the Tuscaloosa Police Department, charged with school employee engaging in sex act with a student under the age of 19.
The investigation started May 2, when the Tuscaloosa Police Department's Juvenile Division was made aware of a possible improper relationship between a Tuscaloosa City School employee and a student. Investigators determined that Meta Lovely, a substitute teacher, was involved in a sexual relationship with a student in the school system.
The 54-year-old is being held in the Tuscaloosa County Jail on a $30,000 bond.
AN attorney for Lovely, Mary Turner, says that “Meta is innocent and adamantly denies these allegations."
