The First African Baptist Church of Tuscaloosa celebrating 150 years
The First African Baptist Church of Tuscaloosa, celebrated 150 years Saturday.
The church was established in 1866 and in all that time, it has stayed together.
In the height of the Civil Rights era First African played a role in the fight for equality in Tuscaloosa.
Church member Deborah Knox Bush says Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. even worked with the church.
Saturday's celebration was more than just that, it was a reminder of the continued strength of the black community, through so many difficult decades.
