The Weather Authority | Shower Chances Return Thursday
From Brian Peters and the ABC 33/40 Weather Blog:
That’s Right, We Have Showers At Midday
So what a surprise out there at midday in Central Alabama… We actually have rain on the radar, mainly over the west-central locations of the area. The past few days, none of our models were showing any rain for today, with the exception of the NAM. It was the only one that was correct for today. Portions of Greene, Hale, Sumter, and Pickens are the only ones in Central Alabama getting showers at this point, and these will continue to move eastward while diminishing somewhat. Where it’s not raining, skies are mostly cloudy across the area.
Temperatures Across Central Alabama
At 12:15 PM, temperatures are ranging from the upper 70s to the upper 80s. Birmingham is currently at 82 degrees. Eufaula is the warm spot at 89 degrees, while just up the road in Auburn, the temperature is 79 degrees, coming in as the cool spot.
Weather For The Rest Of The Day
We’ll have more clouds than sun throughout the rest of the daytime and into the early evening hours, and few spots will get some showers and maybe a thunderstorm. Afternoon highs will once again be in the mid to upper 80s. We’ll have partly to mostly cloudy skies throughout the late evening and overnight hours. A small risk of showers and storms begin to creep into the southeastern part of Central Alabama, but everyone else will remain dry. Overnight lows will be in the upper 60s to the lower 70s.
Rain Chances Are Back In The Forecast For Thursday
The high pressure will have dissipated and the flow over Central Alabama will be back out of the south. This will bring in higher humidity levels, along with a risk of mainly scattered to numerous afternoon showers and storms, with the best chances of those in the southeastern part of the area. Afternoon highs will be in the lower 80s to the lower 90s, with the cooler temperatures where there is more rainfall. Rain will dissipate somewhat on Thursday evening and into the overnight hours, but a small risk of showers and storms will continue for the southeastern parts. Lows will be in the upper 60s to the lower 70s.
