Traffic stop leads to seizure of 117 pounds of marijuana
JEFFERSON COUNTY, Ala. —
A traffic stop in Jefferson County Monday night led to the seizure of 117 pounds of marijuana.
The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office says two cars were pulled over for speeding on I-22 near mile marker 88. Two duffel bags were found in the trunk of each car containing marijuana.
In total, 117 pounds were in the bags worth an estimated $117,000.
Both drivers are awaiting formal charges of trafficking marijuana.
