Florida detective wrangles 9-foot anaconda
LEON Co., Fla. (WSET) - One Florida detective got an unusual call Thursday.
According to the Leon County Sheriff's Office, Detective Emily Shaw was called to handle a 9-foot-long yellow anaconda.
According to the sheriff's office's Facebook page, officials believe the snake was someone's pet that escaped or was released.
They say if you own an exotic pet, be responsible. Don't let it loose!
They say if someone decides they no longer want to keep an exotic pet, they shouldn't release it into the wild. Instead, they should call the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission.
According to the USGS, yellow anacondas are native to parts of South America, like Bolivia and Paraguay.
