Auburn pitcher Keegan Thompson earns SEC weekly honor
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. —
Keegan Thompson's hot start has paid off in a weekly honor.
The Auburn senior is the SEC's co-pitcher of the week after throwing seven and a third shutout innings in a win versus Lipscomb last Friday. The Tigers won the game 8-0, their fifth shutout of the season--the most in the NCAA.
Thompson shares the honor with LSU's Jared Poche'.
Thompson, who attended Cullman High School, retired 12 straight Lipscomb hitters at one point in the game. He is 3-0 on the season and has not allowed a run in 21 consecutive innings, the longest streak for an Auburn pitcher since 2007.
The Tigers have four games this week, all of them at home. Auburn hosts South Alabama on Tuesday and Kennesaw State on Wednesday before beginning a weekend series with Presbyterian on Friday.
