Auburn QB battle to continue in fall camp

A-Day was Jarrett Stidham's day.

The former Baylor quarterback completed 16-20 for 267 yards, all in the first half.

It may take a few more performances like that, in front of the coaches, to earn the Auburn starting quarterback job.

Coach Gus Malzahn did not name a starting quarterback following A-Day, preferring to give Sean White a chance to compete when he's fully healthy. White started ten games at quarterback last season, but has been limited throughout spring practice while he recovers from offseason surgery.

"I mean, I'm looking forward to competing against him," Stidham said. "You know, once fall camp gets here and dueling it out between us two and really just pushing each other to get better."

"(Stidham) had a good day, so it's a credit to him," White said. "Like I said, I think Coach (Chip) Lindsey has brought some good passing aspects and down the field, more open and stuff like that. Our receivers play really well too. I'm just excited to play in this offense with some talent and compete."
