Samford basketball falls to Mercer, 74-69

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. —
Samford could not maintain it's fast start after halftime, as the Bulldogs suffered a home loss to Mercer, 74-69.
The Bulldogs trailed 34-28 at halftime, but scored the first eight points of the second half to take a 36-34 lead with 17:41 left in the game. Mercer answered with a 9-0 run of it's own, and never gave it up.
Tristian Chambers led Samford (9-19, 5-10 SoCon) with 16 points. Alex Thompson and Josh Sharkey scored 15 points apiece.
The Bulldogs return to action against Furman Saturday at 1 p.m. It's the final home game of the season and the Samford seniors with a pregame presentation.
