George Bates takes over as Woodlawn High School head football coach
WOODLAWN, Ala. —
George Bates has been hired as head football coach at Woodlawn High School. Bates takes over the Colonels after a 3-year stint at Minor, where he led the Tigers to a 26-11 record and three straight playoff appearances.
Last year the Tigers finished 11-2 and made it to the 6A Quarterfinals. The Tigers set a school record in scoring with 631 points.
Before that, he coached two years at Parker. He led the Thundering Herd to an 8-4 record and a playoff appearance in 2013.
