The top high school basketball talent was honored this week in Montgomery.

The Alabama Sports Writers Association held it's "Mr. Basketball" banquet on Tuesday. Mae Jemision's John Petty won top honors for the second year in a row.

Brewbaker Tech's Bianca Jackson was awarded Alabama's "Miss Basketball".

The most impressive feat may have come out of the smallest classification. Sacred Heart's Diante Wood was named Class 1A boys Player of the Year, beating out the other finalists--Sacred Heart teammates DJ Heath and Kevion Nolan.

"We put a lot of the work in together, to come and compete and to try to get an award like this," Wood said. "It was the three of us, we knew it was coming back to Sacred Heart, we just didn't know who."
